Board Certified?

WHY CHOOSE A “BOARD CERTIFIED” PLASTIC SURGEON?

The rising popularity of Breast Augmentation or Breast Implant surgery has made this procedure the most popular surgery in the United States. In 2007, nearly 348,000 women underwent Breast Enhancement surgery compared to 212,000 in 2000. As it becomes more popular and accepted, many more health care providers are adding this specific procedure to their practice. However, not all providers are qualified to perform plastic surgery. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (www.plasticsurgery.org) requires all of it’s members to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and to continue surgeon education on patient safety and cutting edge techniques. The ASPS offers these guidelines for choosing a board certified plastic surgeon:

  • Has at least 6 years of training and experience in surgery, with 3 years specifically in plastic surgery
  • Is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery
  • Operates only in accredited medical facilities
  • Adheres to a strict code of ethics
  • Fulfills continuing education requirements, including patient safety techniques
  • Will be your partner, working to achieve your goals
